Introduction
Designed for the situation where is requested the product protection from dangerous effects due to uncontrolled diffusion of air-transported contaminants from the environmental to the product during its handling. Since Polaris is not a biological safety cabinet, its use is not for handling pathogen products.

Definition
POLARIS 48 and 72 cabinets produced by Steril S.p.A. are defined: Vertical laminar flow cabinet as designed to fulfil the above-described application. Class 100 (M 3.5) as FS 209e with partial frontal working aperture for aspiration 15% of the total air involved, and the remaining 85% is recirculated through the HEPA filter in a working chamber with a laminar air flow velocity of 0.40 m/s +/-20%.

Lower part of back panel and spillage tray in stainless steel AISI 304L "2B" finishing, thickness 12/10, smooth and sealed edges. Back panel in steel epoxy polyester powder painted, resistant to the most common industrial disinfectant. Working surface in stainless steel AISI 304L "2B" finishing, 4 and 6 sectors removable and autoclavable. Available both in perforated and solid version. Side walls in toughened safety glass. Front window, in toughened safety glass electrical driven. Construction structure in steel epoxy-polyester powder painted, resistant to the most common industrial disinfectants. Ventilation system by means of n°1 motor blower for POLARIS 48 dedicated to the one-way airflow in the working chamber, equal to 85% of the total involved air and to exhaust the remaining 15%. The motor blower is centrifugal type, direct driven motor with double aspiration and protection factor IP22. POLARIS 72 is supplied with n° 2 motor blowers in parallel way system Air filtration, both recirculate and exhaust air by means of HEPA "H14 type" filter with efficiency of 99,999% at 0,3 micron particles size with DOP/DOS test (as defined to EN1822).
Command and Controls
Air ventilation control by means of manual electric regulation of the revolution velocity of the motor-blower achieves via interfaced to microprocessor. It guarantees the activity, control and monitoring of air ventilation. Alphanumeric display (optional) showing Laminar air flow speed in m/s.
